Martin Madden
Managing Partner
In 2007, Martin C. Madden co-founded Seguin Partners, LLC with Chris Needham. Mr. Madden serves as a Managing Partner of Seguin also is a Managing Director, board member and principal shareholder of Seguin predecessor firm Bariston Partners, LLC. Mr. Madden joined Bariston Associates, Inc., the management company for Bariston Partners, in 1992 and developed particular experience in the B2B information industry as well as other service sectors. Bariston Partners completed its program of investments in new companies in 2006. He joined New England Merchants National Bank in 1982 and was a commercial lending officer of the Bank of New England NA, as well as a finance officer of Bank of New England Corporation with responsibilities for capital planning, investor relations and shareholder relations. In 1986, Mr. Madden became a founding member of BNE Associates, Inc., the investment banking subsidiary of Bank of New England, and served as Vice President there as well as at its successor, BNY Associates, Inc. His responsibilities focused on middle market transaction origination and implementation of private placements of equity, subordinated debt and senior debt, and he completed transactions in a wide variety of industries.
After the formation of Bariston Partners in 1997, Mr. Madden served on the Board of Commonwealth Business Media, Inc. and on the Board of HCPro Holdings, Inc. He currently serves on the Boards of Seguin portfolio companies Genesis Solutions and CFO Publishing. He also serves as a member of the Corporation of Sea Education Association and the development committee for the Salisbury Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Madden holds an MBA from the University of New Hampshire and a BA in Philosophy from Tufts University.
Christopher Needham
Managing Partner
Christopher E. Needham is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Seguin Partners, LLC. Mr. Needham also is a Managing Director and principal shareholder of Bariston Partners, LLC. He joined Bariston in 2002. Bariston Partners has completed its program of investments in new companies. He began his career as an operations manager with a salmon processing company in Alaska. In 1983, Mr. Needham joined State Street Bank in corporate banking, starting with general middle market commercial and industrial lending and later as a credit manager lending to professional firms, healthcare firms, non-profits and small businesses. From 1992 to 1999, he managed the media, communications and recurring-revenue service industries lending group at State Street, growing commitments from $200 million to $650 million. After Citizens Bank acquired State Street’s commercial banking business in 1999, Mr. Needham served as Division Executive at Citizens with added responsibility for publishing and information lending. Commitments grew to $1.2 billion across more than twenty industry segments including security alarm monitoring, records management, business services, publishing, subscription information, cable television, cellular telephone, rural telephone, communications towers, television and outdoor advertising.
After joining Bariston, Mr. Needham served on the Boards of Coastal Security Systems, Inc. and Health Watch Holdings, Inc. and currently is on the Board of Guardian Security Holdings, Inc. He also serves on the Board of the Learning Center for the Deaf. Mr. Needham has served as a Director, Assistant Treasurer or Treasurer of three hospice organizations during the 1990’s and was actively involved in mergers involving two of them. Mr. Needham holds an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Kirk Blanchette
Partner
Kirk L. Blanchette joined Seguin Partners, LLC as a Partner in 2007. Mr. Blanchette has been involved in principal investing since 1999. His investment experience covers early to late stage investing with a focus on middle market companies across a broad range of industries including software, security alarm, business services, consumer products, publishing and healthcare services. During this period he has worked with Sverica International, a middle market private equity firm, as a Principal; Bariston Partners, a middle market focused merchant bank, as a Vice President; and North Hill Ventures, a captive VC fund of Capital One (COF), as a Senior Analyst.
Prior to 1999 he was an investment banker with Banc of America Securities (and its predecessors) where he initially worked in mergers and acquisitions and later was a founding member of the industrials corporate finance practice at the bank.
Mr. Blanchette currently serves on the Boards of Genesis Solutions and Foamtech Corporation, and as a board advisor to Guardian Security Holdings and CFO Publishing. Mr. Blanchette holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated summa cum laude from Babson College with a BS in Finance and Investments.
Dan Hodges
Associate
Dan Hodges joined Seguin Partners, LLC as an Associate in 2009. Prior to joining Seguin, Dan was an Associate in American Capital's Boston office, which he helped open in 2007. During his time at American Capital, Dan's responsibilities included financial modeling, due diligence, execution and monitoring of portfolio companies in the business services and manufacturing sectors.
Before American Capital, Dan was an Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Group at Wachovia Securities. At Wachovia, Dan worked on senior debt and high yield transactions to support private equity clients and large corporations in the healthcare, consumer and retail spaces.
Dan received a BA in Economics from Duke University. He also spent a semester studying Italian language and international economics in Florence, Italy. Dan is an active member of the Mayflower Foundation.
Doreen Gouveia
Office Manager
Doreen Gouveia joined Seguin Partners in February 2007 and is the firm’s Office Manager. Mrs. Gouveia has over 7 years of commercial banking experience with State Street Bank. While at State Street, Mrs. Gouveia worked with Chris Needham as Office Manager/CSU Manager for the Communications Lending Division. Mrs. Gouveia and her group were responsible for over 150 loan closings as well as general banking and customer support for their customers. Mrs. Gouveia holds an Associate in Science degree in business management from Marian Court Junior College. |
